Star Card

Star Card services are available in the Support Center located in Lewis Hall - Room 048. Current students, faculty and staff who have not replaced their former Dominican ID card with a Star Card are invited to do so before the first day of classes to avoid wait times. Former ID cards will be deactivated after September 4, 2016.

It's Your Official Campus ID Card

Dominican University issues each student, employee and affiliated guest an identification card that includes their name and image, referred to as a Star Card. The Star Card serves an identification card; an electronic key card controlling access to residence halls and other buildings, the Library, facilities, and staff office buildings; and DU Dollars which can be used to purchase goods and services at select locations on campus.

  • Convenient: For dining and a growing list of other services on campus.
  • Fast: With exact change every time, the Star Card is even faster than cash or credit!
  • Safe: Was your Star Card lost or stolen? No problem! Use the website and notify us. Stop by the Support Center and we'll issue you a new card.

Welcome to the New Star Card

Effective April 25, 2016, the University began issuing DU ID cards with a new design. IDs that are being issued to new employees and new students arriving this fall will look different. Changes have been made to provide increased security, visibility of affiliation, as well as growth for new opportunities for the Star Card on campus.

All current students, faculty and staff with existing cards will need to visit the Support Center to replace their former Dominican ID card with a Star Card at no charge. The ID cards look different from existing cards and are based on affiliation. The Support Center and Public Safety would like to make sure all campus departments and services are aware of the change to reduce confusion over the validity of the new cards.

ID cards with the former design remain active until September 4, 2016, with restricted functionality for access to dining and library services. After September 4, 2016, former Dominican ID cards will no longer be active or accepted as a valid ID card.
