Tim Trendel ’99, MAEA ’08 hired as boys basketball coach at Marist

Tim Trendel ’99, MAEA ’08 has been hired as the boys basketball coach at Marist High School. Tim will begin his stint at Marist as a physical education teacher, in addition to basketball coach. He spent the last eight seasons with Providence Catholic. 

In Tim's eight seasons with Providence Catholic, he coached regional champions in Class 3A in 2012 and 2013 and in Class 4A in 2015. The Celtics finished 21-10 in 2014-15, their high-water mark for victories under Tim. 

Tim taught social studies classes and served as assistant dean at Providence. He also was an assistant for six years on the lower levels in Providence's superb baseball program. That included the three seasons when Providence won three straight Class 4A state championships.

"I love coaching baseball," said Tim, who played baseball at Dominican University. "I had great kids to coach in baseball at Providence. It was great to meet and deal with baseball players in addition to basketball players.
