Caritas Veritas Symposium

Caritas Veritas Symposium
Tuesday, September 25, 2018

The 2018 Caritas Veritas Symposium considers our values of love and truth for the contemporary moment, asking:  What does our Caritas Veritas motto mean to you? How does it inspire you to live our mission? How do you contribute to the legacy of the Sinsinawa Dominicans?

All members of the Dominican University community are invited to reflect on these questions from the perspective of their lives as students and educators, within their disciplines and professions.  These questions might be addressed in relation to democratic citizenship, health care, social inequities, sustain-ability, or any issue which speaks to the presenter’s passion, imagination or vocation.

Proposals for formal papers, panel presentations, round-table discussions, workshops, dialogues, and original creative work, particularly in the visual, performing and other arts, are all encouraged. We especially welcome proposals from student presenters.  We ask that panels limit themselves to no more than four presenters.  Papers with a single author will be presented in a 30-minute format at the symposium, and sessions involving multiple presenters will be allowed 60 minutes.  All sessions should allow time for conversation with participants.  Proposals should be approximately 150 words in length. In addition to your proposal, please include a two-sentence description of your topic for publication in the symposium program, and any needs you may have for the use of technology.  In order to design a balanced symposium accommodating as many of the best proposals as possible, the planning committee may ask some individuals to adapt their preferred presentation format to fit the program as a whole.

Please submit proposals by Friday, May 4, 2018. Questions may be directed to Claire Noonan, Vice President for Mission and Ministry, or 708-524-6860.  More information about the symposium can be found at
